Instagram API Upgrades: What Needs To Be Done - Sparx Digital

On March 31 2020 Instagram will be shutting down the Legacy API Platform and moving onto the Facebook Graph API.

This new integration provides people with the option to import photos from Instagram, connect to Instagram profiles and more!

3 Main Changes to the API

  1. Instagram have introduced new features to enable users to decide what information they share, and to revoke access to apps through the Instagram mobile app.
  2. Separated profile and media information into two distinct permissions to apply for.
  3. Deprecated a number of data fields such as location data and follower counts to minimise data exposure and ensure safety and privacy.
